AIMS

Initial achieving best evidence video interview training
AIMS

Joint investigation & Achieving Best Evidence video interview refresher training
AIMS
To refresh and develop the skills and abilities of social workers to carry out thorough and professional joint investigations with the police and conduct effective video interviews in accordance with the ‘Achieving Best Evidence…’ guidelines.

Human trafficking awareness – children are a special case
AIMS
To explain the common definition of human trafficking and identify the different types of exploitation. Understanding the methods traffickers adopt in order to exploit adults and children. Recognise possible indicators of a trafficked child and the appropriate responses for safeguarding children who have been trafficked.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Provide a definition of human trafficking.
- Identify different types of exploitation.
- Recognise key factors affecting the trafficking of adults and children.
- Describe common methods used by traffickers.
- Identify the main indicators associated with child victims of trafficking.
- Knowledge of the appropriate responses for safeguarding trafficked children.
Child Protection Training in accordance with Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education 2006.
AIMS
To provide current information on child protection matters. Raise awareness of the seriousness and prevalence of child protection. Introduce the types and possible signs of abuse. Explore responsibilities and appropriate courses of action.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Have knowledge of current child protection matters.
- To have a basic understanding of the child protection system.
- The ability to identify and respond appropriately to instances of suspected abuse.
Consultancy and training services available to police education, health and social service professionals regarding the protection of children and vulnerable adults
Skill development in the following areas:
- child abuse investigation,
- multi-agency working,
- techniques relating to serious non-accidental injury to children and suspicious sudden infant death,
- management techniques when dealing with difficult parents during child abuse investigations
- the delivery of evidence in court.
- communication and video interviews with children or vulnerable persons.
- evaluation of systems and processes relating to the protection of children and/or vulnerable adults,
- independent investigations or case reviews.
