About us

Nigel King MSc Consultant and trainer in matters relating to child protection, inter-agency working and the management  of convicted of child sex offenders. Specialist in interviewing children, suspected child sex offenders and the investigation of offences against children and vulnerable persons. Master of Science degree in ‘Child Forensic Studies: Psychology and Law.' Member of the National Executive committee of British Association for the Study and Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (BASPCAN). Associate tutor for the National Policing Improvement Agency. Visiting Lecturer De Montfort University and York College.

BACKGROUND

Nigel is an experienced trainer in policing skills and a specialist in matters relating to child protection, inter-agency working and associated matters.  Nigel’s experience comes from his police background.  As an operational detective he spent many years investigating many child sexual abuse cases and investigations into non-accidental injuries to children, including sudden infant deaths and incidents of fabricated and induced illness.  He developed efficient and effective working practices with other agencies.  Nigel’s expertise was recognised nationally when he was seconded to Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary as a police inspector for the first national multi-agency ‘Safeguards for Children’ inspection.  Nigel is a skilled facilitator combining his practical experience with academic research and implements training based on the ‘real world’.  He is an accomplished speaker and given presentations at a number of police and multi-agency conferences across the UK and international events in Sweden and Germany.

The development of single and multi-agency child protection, leading to efficient and effective working practices with professionals from different agencies, when enquiring into reports of abuse and criminal offences against children and vulnerable persons.  Has constructed working procedures, inspected and audited systems in the UK and Europe.

Deep understanding, experience and knowledge of the intricacies of dealing with serious assaults on children, life threatening incidents to babies and sudden infant deaths.  These exceptional events require specialist knowledge that many professionals rarely have the opportunity to develop.

Expert in the development of interviewing skills enabling professionals to engage with and obtain the best evidence from children, families and other agency staff.
